Intentions
For my personal investigation, I have decided to explore the concept of fashion and colour. I have always been very interested in fashion and the different styles that are currently in fashion. I feel like fashion photography is a very broad subject and I can utilise this factor in order to add my own personal thoughts and make my investigation interesting and unique. What interests me most about fashion photography is that everybody dresses in a different way and this is a way to show originality and a method for individuals to express themselves. Furthermore, fashion is a worldwide thing and has no boundaries or rules. Colour has been an interesting concept that I have wanted to explore, how each colour can determine your mood, for example, red can make people feel emotions such as anger and blue can make people feel calm. Additionally, I wanted to investigate colours through the ages and in different culture such as how in Western countries, the bride wears white, but in some Asian cultures the bride wears red.
As fashion photography is a broad subject, I am able to explore various topics within fashion photography. My intentions for my personal investigation is to show the importance of fashion to show individuality and culture. To do this I want to explore traditional clothing in different cultures.
The first step to producing a successful portfolio is to explore a range of photographers that are able to inspire my work. From this, I can plan my own shoots that I can include in my investigation therefore, throughout my work I will be referring to multiple artists that inspired me. Along with taking photographs, I will be manipulating some images using a range of artistic techniques that will help to develop my work.
When planning my shoots, I need to think about the various locations that I would include. With fashion photography, I feel like I can take photographs just about anywhere in London, depending on the atmosphere of the images. There are many locations I can choose from such as, studios, Shoreditch, where there are graffiti everywhere, this would make a good background for street fashion photography and just about anywhere since fashion is seen everywhere you go. Locations such as Shoreditch and Brick Lane has a lot of graffiti which could help add colour into my work.

The first thing that I will be exploring is different types of fashion, particularly my own fashion, which is street fashion. Street fashion is normally associated with the youth culture and instead of originating from runways, it came from the streets, hence the name. Street fashion is not tied down to one type of fashion, but have many different types, each styled by the individual. After this, I will begin my first shoot, which is my personal style. The idea of the first shoot is to select various locations and pick out outfits that I would wear to the particular location, but instead of somebody wearing them I will be just photographing the clothes.
After my shoot I will be looking at the different types of ways I can manipulate the images from the first shoot and actually carrying out the task. After this, I will be working on my second shoot, which is inspired by Hattie Stewart, initially I will just be practicing on images from magazines to perfect the technique first and then once I am satisfied, I will be taking portraits of my models and either painting over their face by hand or digitally.
This schedule is what I will be using for all of my shoots, I will be researching my artists for inspiration, go on a shoot inspired by them and finally I will be manipulating some images from my shoot either digitally on Photoshop or physically.
