Video look book:
Another theme in my personal investigation that I wanted to explore is individuality, in all of my shoots I only used the clothing the models already owned, therefore even if I chose the outfits, I believe that it still represented the models as people., it helped to showcase their own personality. However, instead of taking photographs, I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and create a video look book, since I think that a video will be able to express originality more also, the models were to choose their own outfits and I wanted to take them to their favourite place in London or somewhere they often go to, this is a way for the viewers to get to know the models personally.
I first thought of the idea of a look book after watching a short film by Jingna Zhang, who specialises in fashion photography and videography. I then started watching different short films on YouTube on fashion eventually, I ended up watching videos on look books which led to my idea of the final piece, the videos that inspired me in particular are from the YouTube channels, Official Hyolyn, Killa Kush, and Jenn Im which are included below.

Although the main theme of the look book is individuality, I wanted to incorporate colour as well since that is another important aspect of my personal investigation. Therefore, I asked my models to fill out a quiz online that will state what their 'colour personality' was and asked them to pick an outfit based around that colour. The quiz I used was: https://365tests.com/personality-tests/free-color-personality-test/
When filming, I tried to make my models as comfortable as possible so that I was able to capture their personality through the lens, but I don't think I was that successful in that aspect, since I think you can tell that they were awkward in some shots. Furthermore, it was my first time filming and editing a video which meant that I had no experience in film-making whatsoever, but I wanted to try something out of my depth. The outcome wasn't what I was expecting, it looked quite unprofessional and like an amateur filmed it (which I am) compared to the videos that I have watched, some shots were shaky and awkward, but other than that, I felt that the video was quite successful.
In terms of showcasing their individuality through the video, I felt that I was also quite successful, especially with the colours they wore. My first model wore all black and red stripes which shows that she is quite a serious and confident person and that is shown throughout the video as well since she always has a serious face and moves with assurance. My second model also wore black, but with green and blue, he is also quite serious and awkward, but sincere and calm, his awkwardness in the video could be accounted for and my final model wears yellow and black, she has a playful and sunny personality which is definitely seen within the video. I think that her shots were the most successful as the location and model worked well with each other, this might be because I had more experience when it comes to shooting a video since she was the last one.
Overall, I think this look book was quite a success, despite the lack of experience and I believe it demonstrates the point that I was trying to put across with the video however, if I were to re-do this piece, I would make sure that I experimented more with shooting a video to make the shots less shaky and to expand the variety of shots used, also, I would try to make my models more comfortable so that the do not appear awkward in the video.
